Abilities:

• Thanks to her beautiful moth-like wings Duchesse is able to fly, and that pretty high and far. She can even fly in the rain, snow and with wet or icy wings, something that many other creatures with moth wings are unable to do

• Duchesse always leaves a temporary sparkling trail of white tiny snowflakes behind and her gorgeous transparent wings shimmer like freshly fallen snow and a satin cloth

• With the help of her magical powers, she is able to conjure the prettiest of snowflakes and she can even generate bigger amounts of snow and ice. This even works if the temperature is above 0 degrees Celsius. The snow and ice created by Duchesse are entirely ordinary and will melt at higher temperatures, so they must be kept cool quickly. She can even shape her conjured ice and snow into all sorts of forms during the summoning process, including complex designs such as those of other creatures. She loves bringing joy to others with her stunning ice and snow sculptures

• She is able to withstand and endure extreme cold without suffering any harm. However, she does not tolerate warmer temperatures well

• Another great magical ability of Duchesse is the production and conjuring of pure silk. This silk is known not only for its exceptional softness and sheen but also for its remarkable durability and resilience. The colours of her magically produced silk threads are not limited to white but can span a wide range of hues. However, lighter pastel shades consume less magical energy compared to bright neon tones. Since Duchesse prefers the former anyway, this limitation doesn't bother her much. She uses this silk to weave her unique satin fabric, which can be either a solid colour or adorned with beautiful patterns. This, too, she accomplishes with her magical abilities. Much like traditional hand-weaving, her method of weaving is a meticulous and time-consuming process. However, she has no trouble dedicating hours to it, as she finds the work deeply fulfilling. The finished fabric is either passed on to others or used by her to sew simple items like scarves or blankets. She has not yet mastered the craft of creating more complex pieces, such as dresses, but she hopes to learn how to make them someday

• She is able to track down and even communicate with other moths, moth-like beings or caterpillars using her cute antennae

• She can produce and emit light form her whole body. That way she can lighten up the night in many different colours

Weaknesses:

• As mentioned earlier, she does not tolerate warmer temperatures well at all. Cooling off is a must in the heat. For example, she may seek out a shady spot or take a dip in cool water

• Her sparkling snowflake trail cannot simply be "stopped". This makes it difficult for her to hide for example

• Despite being admired by many, Duchesse often feels quite insecure, believing that she is not as special or talented as others see her, even though the opposite is true. This makes things particularly challenging for her at school. However, she is very grateful that her family and especially her cousin Falena, with whom she is very close, are always there to support her and help her build more self-confidence

• Duchesse has a secret crush on Klex, a rather rebellious and cheeky teenager who attends the same school. Unfortunately, he is unaware of her feelings and she doesn’t dare to confess them to him. She believes that this wild and cool rebel wouldn’t be interested in her, as she sees herself as a very well-behaved and gentle soul, thinking she wouldn’t match him as a partner. While Klex isn’t in love with her yet, he does seem intrigued by her. Being very creative himself, he finds her silk, snow, and ice creations impressive and thinks Duchesse is quite beautiful

Further Information:

• She has an entirely vegetarian diet, even though she is partly a snow leopardess. Her favourite foods are vegetables, fruits and nuts. She also loves cold food, such as ice cream or sorbets

• She was born in the Land of Eternal Dawn. This place is very similar to the Land of Eternal Dusk, but the land is in a state of eternal dawn. Thus the sky, the landscape, the plants etc. look different. In general, the colours of the Land of Eternal Dawn are more pastel-like, while the ones of the Land of Eternal Dusk are more intensive and vibrant. When it's about their population currently, it is difficult to tell where the individual inhabitants come from, since both lands are strongly connected and networked with each other. This particular alliance is responsible for the fact that their creatures bear a close resemblance to each other. It is therefore as good as impossible to tell which being was born in the Land of Eternal Dusk or Dawn. Duchesse and her family, however, only lived in this land for a few years. When she was still a young cub, they moved to the Land of Eternal Night to be closer to their relatives, with whom the whole family shares a strong bond. One of these relatives is Falena, Duchesse’s cousin and best friend. But more than that, to Duchesse, Falena is like an older sister. They spend a lot of time together and, despite their age difference, share a very close relationship. A few years ago, when Falena got together with Schimmer and when the two decided that she would move to his homeland, the Land of Eternal Dusk, it wasn’t long before their closest relatives followed. This included Duchesse and her family. She was very happy about this at the time because she would have been very unhappy without her best friend and "big sister"

• She and every here presented Land of Eternal Dusk resident are good friends. As already mentioned, Duchesse and her cousin Falena are best friends and even see each other as sisters. Furthermore, she feels a general sense of connection with the other Lepidopthera, such as Schimmer, Falena's boyfriend, his great-uncle Luminos and Halley, Falena's aunt. The latter is not related to her, but she is like an aunt to Duchesse. She has a crush on the wild, but very creative rebel Klex, but she doesn’t dare to reveal these feelings to him or anyone else
