Name Meaning: A "ROM hack" or "ROM hacking" involves modifying a ROM file, in this context a video game, to specifically alter certain content such as graphics, levels, etc.

Appearance:

RomHack is an anthropomorphic teenage Kitsune fox with a normal build and a short and soft coat. His design is inspired by a video game controller or a Game Boy. His main fur colour is white and he has beige symmetrical markings on his underarms, shanks and one big spot of the same colour around his left eye. RomHack's thighs and upper arms are adorned with one thin grey stripe on each of these limbs. Additionally, he has one grey spot on each elbow and each knee pit. His most special markings have to be the ones on his chest, where the right one looks like a D-Pad and the left one like a speaker of a classical Game Boy. He has four fluffy different coloured tails in the following order from the right to the left: green, blue, red and yellow. Each of them is single-coloured, but share the same length. The same colours can also be observed on other parts of his body, like his paw pads (beans) of his fingers and toes, which share the same order on his right front and on his left back paw. The order of his other paws is reversed. The bigger paw pad in the middle is dark grey on every single paw. The inside of his dark grey pointed ears also features the same colours: both are striped green, blue, red, and yellow from bottom to top. Furthermore, his rear hair tips on the left are red and yellow and on the right blue and green. On each of his cheeks, there are evenly arranged dots that resemble the buttons of a gaming controller. These also follow the same colour pattern as his tails. The final place where these four colours appear is in his eyes: the pupil of his left eye is yellow mixed with red and the pupil of his right eye is blue mixed with green. RomHack's nose and eyelids are dark grey and his hear on top of his head, as well as his fingers and toes are white. He has no whiskers and he can change between his main anthropomorphic and a temporal feral form

Abilities:

• RomHack has the ability to change into a second form, his "feral form". In this form he walks on his four paws and loses some of his anthropomorphic characteristics, like his hands and his upright position. Thus, in his feral form he is not able to use his hands anymore, but on the other hand he can run faster, jump higher and he is more agile. Additionally, in this form, less energy is consumed and he has more stamina. This form is only of temporary nature, which means he cannot stay in this form for a very long period of time. Depending on the amount of magical energy he used, he can be in his feral form for around one to four hours. After this special energy was used up, he will turn back to his standard anthropomorphic form and it takes him several hours for recharging

• He has the remarkable ability to create illusions for himself and other beings, provided they agree to it. These illusions range from simple objects to entire modified areas. The size and intensity of these playful and entertaining deceptions depend on the amount of magical energy used. Larger illusions, of course, require more magical energy. RomHack loves using this ability to simulate games and, occasionally, movies in the real world. Many other beings are also quite fascinated by it and love taking part in them

• He produces and emits light form the colourful parts of his body constantly. That way he can lighten up the night in many different colours. The way he glows is particularly strong and bright. Unlike other creatures, the glowing requires almost no energy and he has the ability to vary the intensity of his glowing from a dimmed one to a dazzling bright one. Even the highest degree consumes only a small amount of energy. This glowing cannot be turned off though

• He is a very talented and passionate gamer and nearly unbeatable when it comes to his favourite video games. He has incredibly fast reflexes and is extremely skilled. He is considered one of the best gamers in the entire land

• Since he often engages in playful adventures within his illusions, he is quite athletic and very agile

• He has the ability of speech and he speaks and understands many different human languages of our world. Of course he is able to interact with his fellow species and other animals and creatures. He can even translate to a certain extent

• He has a pretty good night vision and can see quite well in the dark. He cannot see through the dark in the Land of Eternal Darkness though. He can also see almost all existing colours

 

Weaknesses:

• His glowing cannot simply be "stopped". He can dim it to a certain extent, but not turn it off. This makes it difficult for him to hide for example

• RomHack is a true child at heart. He is very playful and loves playing all kinds of games, especially video games. He also enjoys other activities like going on "virtual" adventures outside by using his illusion abilities. He is a creature full of fantasy and imagination. A lack of these activities would weigh heavily on him and could even make him feel down

• Although he is generally a laid-back being, it can happen that he rages when he loses a game. It becomes quite difficult to calm him down and he needs some time to cool off and relax

• RomHack has a tendency to delve deeply into one of his fantasy worlds and lose sight of reality. Fortunately, his best friend Bubbles and his friend Lullaby are there to bring him back to reality

Further Information:

• He was born in the Land of Eternal Night a gorgeous land which is full of colourful and glowing plants and creatures. As the name implies, the land is in a state of eternal night. It is a very soothing and peaceful land. He and his family moved to the Land of Eternal Dusk just a few months ago. RomHack initially found it difficult to settle in and make new friends. He felt that the teenage peers might label him as too childish and strange, even though most of them didn’t actually think that way. He distanced himself from them and felt sad about being so alone. However, during one of his "virtual" adventures in the great outdoors, he met Bubbles and everything changed. He finally found a best friend who was just as playful and young at heart as he was, despite him being an adult. The age difference didn’t matter to them, and soon after, he also became friends with Lullaby, Bubbles' other best friend. Since then, the three of them have spent a lot of time together and greatly value their friendship

• In every land you can find the following rule: Every strongly marked anthropomorphic creature is actually a human being from either a different dimension and/or time, that's why these creatures are more human-like than other beings

• He is anthropomorphic and thus very human-like, but can still do typical "fox-like" and things like digging, making cute and funny sounds and much more

• He and every here presented Land of Eternal Dusk resident are good friends. As already stated, he is best friends with Bubbles and he also gets along very well with Lullaby

• RomHack is cis-male and he is bisexual

• He is still a teenager and therefore quite young. However, compared to other teenagers in the land, he is considered one of the older teenage beings

• He has an entirely vegetarian diet, even though he is a kitsune fox. His favourite foods are vegetables, fruits, nuts and sweet treats
